At the early dawn of Thanksgiving Thursday of 1988, one of the dreamers- as described by the late Mike Montero- thought about creating a group of inspired Tagon-ons who sail across the Pacific Ocean to search for a greener and better life in the United States of America. The Tagon-on dreamer planned and then called the surrounding Tagon-ons for a get-together that included Bob Risma Pearland and Dr and Mrs Sidring Risma. Among the Bayabas-nons were Feling M Salon & Carlos ‘Bebot’ Montero. The Cagwait-nons were Alyn & Sam Vivares, Lito & Linda Climaco.

Charter Members enthusiastically approved holding the first meeting and planning for the First Tagon-ons Reunion in Houston in 1989. Alyn and Sam Vivares offered their gorgeous residence for the first meeting of the planning committee on July 5, 1988. As a result of this meeting, everyone agreed to hold the First Tagon-ons Reunion on July 3-5, 1989 in Houston, Texas

The Tagon-ons in the USA was born.
The official date for the first reunion was July 4, 1989, in Houston. All available Tagon-ons in the US and Canada received invitations through the mail.

Tagon-ons in USA – Past Projects and Programs

  • 1992 – Tagon-ons in USA donated School Bell to Falcon Central Elementary School through the coordination of Mr Clyde Heruela
  • 1994 –– Tagon-ons in USA launched High School Scholarship Program in 4- Municipalities (Bayabas, Cagwait, Tago and San Miguel) coordinated by Mr Clyde Heruela; created a local Scholarship Committee; 4 scholars every year from first year to fourth year with a budget of $500.00 per year.
  • 1998 – Tagon-ons in USA donated $500.00 to Surigao del Sur Provincial Hospital through Montero Medical Mission earmarked for Hospital Medical Library.
  • 1998 – 2005 – Tagon-ons in USA joined with Montero Medical Mission through the effort of Dr Juan Montero II and Dr Isidro Risma.
  • 2007 – Tagon-ons in USA Foundation Inc. became ‘A Non-Profit Organization by IRS’ through the State of Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts with
    EIN – 77-0673033 Certificate of Formation Number – 00167942210002
  • 2011 – Tagon-ons in USA Foundation Inc. terminated the Tagon-ons in USA Foundation Inc Scholarship Program.
